A Bead Enthusiast
Well, who would have ever thought? An Author, a Journaling Aficionado, Painter and now Jewelry Maker? I’m surprised myself!
Since I enjoy making jewelry, I thought it would be important to know something about the way I make jewelry. When I’m designing earrings, a necklace or bracelet, I think of the person who will be wearing it. This has a very “special” creative aspect to my finished products. Jewelry I’ve made for no one in particular has fallen flat with no interest from buyers. So my technique in knowing something about you – your tastes, color choices and personal style – helps when selecting beads and / or designing something especially for you. I have received so many compliments on my special creations when designing with this distinct creative aspect in mind, I’ve continued to make jewelry only this way. Beads and clasps may be similar, but a finished product is never duplicated.
My bead history goes way back to when I was first introduced to beads in the 1970s when my mother hand-crafted beaded macramé plant hangers. In the 1980s, I remember restringing my own jewelry that would break shortly after purchasing it. I restrung beads for my family and friends and never thought anything of it. My first Bead Show was in 2008.
However, it was the spring of 2010 that I became a serious beader. Now, I can’t wear all this jewelry myself and I’ve given a lot a way. I’ve sold some of my creations on Etsy.com, and sold to a lot of people I know – like you! You probably see me wearing my creations, even if I’m in a t-shirt and jeans!
Although I consider beading just one of my creative outlets, I have sold some of my work. I’m always on the lookout for new designs, unusual beads and unique looking clasps. Beads enhance my creative spirit with color and design, much like my writings, paintings and bookmarks.
